The health benefits of Massage Therapy
Massage therapy has many health benefits for the body, mind and person. Studies have shown that massage is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain, and muscle tension. Some massage may even benefit people who struggle with anxiety and insomnia along with fibromyalgia, sport injuries and even pregnant women who have tension in their back!

Types of Massage Therapy
There are many different types of massage that may benefit you in certain ways. At your first visit we will go over what you expect out of your massage visit and decide which best fits your needs. Listed below are the different types of massages I offer in my practice.

Deep tissue:
Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. If you experience a lot of tension in your shoulders, neck and lower back this may helpful for you. The therapist will put deep pressure on trigger point areas to loosen the tension for you. At any time if the pressure is too much please let me know.

Swedish Massage:
This type of massage is more relaxation than working on certain areas with deep pressure. It is usually a full body massage with techniques of friction, stroking, and kneading. If it is your first time receiving a massage this is the massage for you.

Foot Pain:
Not many people like their feet touched, but with enough pressure, the therapist can find that "feel good" spot and produce the "sweet ache" to help relieve discomfort for the many causes of foot pain.

Advanced Neck and Headache Techniques:
Muscles under the back of the skull (sub-occipitals) are the single most pleasing target for massage in the human body. These small muscles may cause our common headaches, but without them, our heads would simply fall off. They work overtime to keep our heads balanced and to initiate and control fine movements. With advanced techniques, the therapist can help relax and soothe the stress areas in and around the neck.

Myofascial Release Massage:
Myofascial Release is a soft tissue therapy for muscle immobility and pain. This relaxes contracted muscles and improves blood and lymph circulation. The therapist can identify trouble areas in the body through massage, then help ease the stress that's been built up. Myofascial release restores balance, health and elasticity, while relieving pain by reducing these collagenous restrictions.
